Glass fibre composite panels in RAL colour in a large power plant

Pit covers in RAL colour
The customer had the decisive requirement that the pit covers had to be matched to the adjacent underground. The glass fibre composite covers can be designed in a variety of colours. The pigments for the colouring are admixed to the granulate during production to ensure that the colouration is not only surface-bound but also consistent in the cover. A company logo can also be integrated, which makes the glass fibre composite covers highly versatile.

As you can see in the pictures on the side, the material-fatigued, broken and torn concrete covers have not only long passed the end of their lifetime but they are also an accident hazard. All of these risks are things of the past now that the corrosion-free, anti-slip and incredibly robust glass fibre composite covers are in place.

In the second construction phase, the area of 7.65 m to be covered was fitted with GPR composite covers with lengths of 1,350mm and load class D 400. The covers are now installed in the entrance area of the heating room where trucks frequently drive in and out of the roller gates.

Covers complementing the existing, coloured underground were needed in this case.

The benefits at a glance

  • Weight reduction for opening and handling
  • While they satisfy the load class criteria, the covers can be easily removed by two people
  • Corrosion-free
  • Non-ferrous, making them worthless on the scrap market
