Light-weight, load resistant and non-corrosive
Conventional pit covers made of the concrete and cast iron material combinations (BEGU) as well as reinforced concrete have been used successfully for decades in underground construction, industrial and cable duct construction. They offer a long lifetime and a good price-performance relation. However, these conventional covers – especially those of the older generations – often leave a user friendly application to be missed. Fibrelite provides a broad product range of high-performance, high-tech covers a wide selection of individual, series connected modular and planar solutions – besides many standard dimensions – for nearly any challenge in industrial and underground construction.
Particularly easy to install and handle
The modern plastic industrial covers are manufactured of glass fibre composite material. This makes them particularly user friendly and permanently fault-free in use. The non-corrosive properties as well as the low lid weight are among the benefits of the material used. One person can easily lift them out, without a need to use heavy lifting equipment.
Example
Even a cover with a clear width of 1,020 millimetres merely weighs around 53 kilogram – with a load class of E600 (up to 60 t). Thanks to the innovative glass fibre composite material, even telemetric data can be read out by wireless telecommunication without having to take off the cover for this. Frequent opening is also possible without difficulty and without causing signs of wear and tear on the material. A related practical feature is that the covers can be equipped with an interior lid. This version also permits opening the pit covers only partly for performing checks.
A resilient alternative
Besides the simple installation and easy handling in everyday routine, the plastic pit covers are characterised especially by their resilience: compared to conventional covers, they are 100-percent corrosion resistant. This is ensured by the use of glass fibre structured in a composite with epoxy resin. A lid sealing at the top furthermore ensures that no surface water can penetrate. Besides this, the product solutions made of plastic are anti-static and fire-retardant.
Especially in view of demanding areas of use in the chemicals industry or air traffic manoeuvring areas, the permanently resilient properties of the glass fibre composite material are often decisive product advantages. In addition, the ground surfaces in this context must frequently fulfil strict requirements for accessibility, safety and durability. It is decisive that they are safe to step on and offer a maximum of traction.
