Safety due to anti-slip properties

Besides their many benefits – like the convenient handling and non-corrosive properties – the decisive product advantages of modern glass fibre composite plastic pit covers include foremost the tested anti-slip properties according to DIN 51130 and DIN 51097. Especially on openings to underground pit and sewer structures, the smart solutions of Fibrelite make a compelling case as an effective alternative to the common covers made of cast iron, steel and concrete – notably on the exterior as well as in the interior area.

Pit covers in the exterior areas, for example, on pavements and in park areas, are exposed to environmental effects such as UV radiation, precipitation, and fluctuating temperatures. Nonetheless, they must withstand all conditions to ensure stability and tightness. The Fibrelite pit covers not only unite these characteristics: they are furthermore anti-slip and therefore make a great contribution to accident prevention and safety at work. The reason for this are primarily the ceramic additions in the surface structure.

Stricter requirements
Accessibility, durability, and a long useful life are the most important criteria in the selection of covers for outdoor areas. To be able to guarantee the criteria are met, the choice of material is at the top of the list of priorities. In addition, anti-slip properties must be assured – notably for any type of shoe and any type of tyre. It is decisive to make the pit covers safe to step on. While most flooring types are provided only after their actual manufacturing with anti-slip properties such as strong profiles, increased roughness or elasticity, Fibrelite relies on product optimisation by prevention: resilience and skid resistance are ensured by the integration of a technical resin in the laminated material design.

Safety guaranteed
In a test according to DIN 51130 and DIN 51097 by an independent institute, the skid resistance of Fibrelite pit covers proved to have excellent results. With the rating “R11”, their increased factor of adhesion and skid resistance was confirmed up to a tilt angle of 27 degrees. The result “V10” indicates the displacement of relief surfaces and proves particularly high skid resistance. The suffix “C” indicates the rating group for barefoot wet areas. With this marking, the covers of the company based in Eggenstein are generally suited even for swimming pools.
