Tide water protection programme by means of anti-slip series connected covers
Planar glass fibre composite covers to cover an “open” rain retention reservoir in a residential area
Easy access for the operator
Within the scope of a tide water protection measure, the primary requirement was to guarantee the operator complete and easy accessibility of the rain retention reservoir so it can also regularly check, e.g. the level of the precipitation water in large underground collection basins.
The pit space is 3 metres wide and 13 metres long. The difficulty of this design was that a steel support runs exactly above the middle of the pit. It took only a short period of time to design the cover for this plant in coordination with the engineering office.
The pit covers are situated in a residential area. Safety for pedestrians is assured by the anti-slip surface according to DIN 51097 and DIN 51130.
The series connected/planar cover system offers flexibility for lifting out the lids
Glass fibre composite covers are light-weight, resistant to weathering and can bear heavy loads. An advanced engineered resin integrated during the manufacturing process makes each cover a highly developed, monolithic glass fibre composite product.
The advantage of this system of series connected planar covers is that only the lids in the vacant area have to be opened.
Two people can handle the individual lids easily without heavy lifting equipment or additional gas pressure springs. Depending on the individual installation length, one person is even sufficient.
